Kontei Judo is our primary system and training methodology. It encompasses the entire curriculum of traditional Kodokan Judo, including atemi waza, nage waza and katame waza. It is taught through a well-balanced mix of kata, randori and solo practice. Students learning the Kontei Judo system will cover all of the material learned in the next 2 divisions.

Gojeon Yudo refers to the old system of Korean Judo learned and taught by Jack Stern, based on his training in both Korea and Japan. The simplified curriculum is based around the 40 original throws of the Kodokan. The system was later divided and organized into two branches, the other being named Kojido Jitsu. More information on Kojido Jitsu below.

Koji Jiu Jitsu solely encompasses the ground-fighting aspects of our training. It was developed by Steven Hatfield to provide students of Paja Yudo an avenue to expand their training, and may be offered separately. Its roots lie in traditional Kodokan Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Vale Tudo, and the name Koji was used in recognition of Stern's Kojido Jitsu.

As we are descended from Jack Stern's lineage, we must acknowledge his personal system of Kojido Jitsu, which was inherited by Dell Sharpe in 2012 upon Papasan's passing, along with the Paja Dojo name. Kojido is a hybrid self defense system incorporating not just Judo and Yudo, but elements from Stern's training in Goshindo Kempo and Hakko Ryu Jujutsu under Hara Naraki.
Today, Kojido Jitsu is overseen by the United International Kojido Jitsu Federation and the World Organization of Mixed Martial Arts. For more information about the system and these organizations, please click here to visit their official website.

For those interested in studying Japanese Jujutsu, we are affiliated with the Yoshinkai and training opportunities can be coordinated through the Nama Kan Judo & Jujutsu Association. The Yoshinkai is the open division of American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu, a neo-classical system derived from Daito Ryu and Yoshinkan Aikido.
Aiki Jujutsu was once referred to as "the highest level of jujutsu" by none other than Kano Jigoro, the founder of Judo, and so we feel it is only fitting to offer this opportunity to our members. In fact, the Kodokan Goshin Jutsu kata was developed by Tomiki Kenji, whom Kano sent to Ueshiba Morihei to study Daito Ryu before Ueshiba developed his modern Aikido.
